The Friendlies: The Storytellers of Friendly Elephant

Real people. Real stories. Real moments of belonging.

Friendly Elephant exists to help people feel less alone — not through theory, but through lived experience. Our stories are written by Friendlies: dancers, runners, comedians, newcomers, artists, performers, introverts, extroverts, and anyone discovering connection in Atlanta and beyond.

Some Friendlies choose to share their name.
Some prefer to stay anonymous.
All share something true.

Why Friendlies Write Anonymously

Not every story is ready to be named. Some are tender. Some involve reinvention, loneliness, grief, or courage. Some require time, safety, and privacy.

That’s why many of our essays are simply authored by:

“Friendlies”

This keeps the focus on the story — not the storyteller’s identity — and allows readers to see themselves more clearly in each narrative.

Here, anonymity is not absence.
It is protection, dignity, and freedom.

When a Friendli Chooses to Be Named

Some contributors want to share their voice more publicly — a dancer promoting her art, a comedian sharing his IG, a filmmaker stepping into her creative identity.

When a Friendli chooses visibility, the author line will show:

  • their name
  • their social handle (if they consent)
  • a link to support their work

We honor privacy.
We celebrate visibility.
Friendliness holds both.

Why These Stories Matter

Belonging begins when someone puts your feelings into words. Loneliness softens when a stranger names something you thought only you felt. Friendliness is not a concept — it is a lived experience.

We don’t publish “tips.” We publish truth:
the courage to try something new,
the awkwardness of showing up,
the joy of meeting someone who unexpectedly becomes your person.

Every story is a signal.
A lantern.
A reminder that connection begins with one tiny brave step.

Friendly Elephant Editorial Team

In addition to stories written by Friendlies, some posts on Friendly Elephant — especially guides, resources, and city-based insights — are created by the Friendly Elephant Editorial Team.

This team researches local communities, curates meaningful experiences, and crafts practical guides to help you feel more connected in your city. Our goal is simple: to make your search for belonging easier, clearer, and more intentional.

While our community essays come from individual voices, our guides reflect a collective effort — shaped by local knowledge, research, and our commitment to helping Friendlies grow in real life.

Whenever a guide is authored by the Editorial Team, you’ll see:

“By Friendly Elephant Editorial Team”

This ensures our storytelling remains personal, while our how-to content remains expert, organized, and reliable.
